General information



The port of Tampico has two parallel breakwaters of 10 meters with at the main entrance. The northern breakwater is 1,340 meters long and the southern is 1,445 meters. The distance between these is 300 meters with a navigation channel of 100 meters and 11 meters of depth.

These breakwaters are built of concrete blocks and have recently been strengthened.

The port offers 11 berths with a total of 2,146 meters of quay and 32 ft. deep.

The port has 331, 730 square meters of open storage, 38,688 square meters of warehousing and 6,472 square meters of shed space.

The depth of the navigation channel varies depending of the needs of each terminal.



Different types of shipment are handled in the port, as general cargo, containers, agricultural bulks, minerals, fluids, oil, and derivatives.
